My name is Shirley and I craft complex ideas into sleek, simple and intuitive experiences across mediums, from UX to brand identity, print to digital. I immigrated from one Silicon Valley (Shenzhen, China) to another (San Jose, California) at the age of 9, and have gained a profound appreciation for language, culture and community ever since. My special power is language. I speak four languages and counting – fluent English and Mandarin, proficient Japanese and Spanish, which have collectively shaped me into a more thoughtful designer.
Good design is a shared language. It removes barriers and brings us together, connected through a visceral reaction we can all interpret and remember visually. I want to help different communities from all walks of life speak that language and share something beautiful with the world.
